Job Description

We are looking for an IT Systems Manager who will serve as a single point of contact for various IT and business units. This is a remote position, so the right candidate would have the ability to work from home 100% of the time from anywhere in the US. Candidate will be responsible for understanding all contractual requirements for systems, applications, and interfaces. This position also involves preparing communications to client and internal teams of system modifications that could potentially impact service level agreements. Responsible for providing analysis and management of any technical gaps that are discovered to drive towards the most appropriate solutions and subsequent implementation. Will lead efforts and manage multiple moving parts related to system change requests and system projects impacting the client. Will also conduct research and analysis of any data pertaining to contract, clearly communicate findings to appropriate IT personnel, and translate data in a knowledgeable manner to the client.

This position is an experienced level technical project management position and assumes smaller scale projects during a training period or in an assistant capacity to more senior staff until experience is gained (both in terms of understanding Magellan specific business acumen and project management methodology). This role assists in developing and maintaining project charter, detailing project plans, weekly status updates and providing problem resolution. Assists with managing schedules and assignments of project members within a matrix structure. Helps ensure that all project activities are coordinated and supportive of the project scope, time and budget. Must be familiar with the role and function of each team member in order to effectively coordinate the activities of the team. Communicates with Information Technology Director, functional area managers and/or business leaders regarding status of specific projects.
  • Performs basic planning, facilitate prioritization and oversees delivery of features and/or enhancements that meets client expectations (scope, schedule, costs, risks).
  • Brings high visibility and transparency into the team’s progress.
  • Develops communication management plans,  performs stakeholders analysis, identifies risks and take necessary actions including escalation.
  •  Demonstrates basic knowledge of information systems.
  • Agile:
  • Runs projects/activities using lean/agile methods such as Scrum, Kanban etc.
  • Demonstrates servant leader qualities for leading the team.
  • Empowers the team to be self-organizing.
  • Measures and reports progress frequently using agile metrics.
  • Demonstrates knowledge in Agile Requirements Gathering methods,  Story identification, breakdown and estimation techniques.
  • Conducts coordinating practices in Agile methods such as Release Planning, Iteration Planning, Grooming etc.

Responsibilities

Basic understanding of lifecycle methodology and experience with projects from initiation to deployment. Basic understanding of PMI methodology and deliverable tools.??Knowledge of project management software (i.e. MS Project). Ability to develop and maintain multiple project plans. Leadership, facilitation and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with a cross-functional team dynamic. Organization, communication, conflict resolution, negotiation and time management skills. Basic background or knowledge of information systems.
