Job Description

Partners with and supports the president of Magellan Complete Care (MCC) and SBU leadership in the development and implementation of effective organizational strategies, understanding of industry shaping trends, and building relationships with key stakeholders internally and externally to achieve desired outcomes and deliverables. This role will contribute to the long-term success of the health plan business by assessing strategic opportunities and cross-walking them into operational roadmaps to deliver on our goals of clinical differentiation, operational scalability and effectiveness, and sustainable profit margins.
He/she is responsible for developing and overseeing the monthly, quarterly and annual management process, including but not limited to, the monthly operating business reviews and strategy process, as well as collecting, analyzing and interpreting financial and operational metrics to assist the president of MCC in effective performance management and decision making.
  • Focuses on the industry's strategic, long term goals as well as developing the business's products and services.
  • Raises understanding of industry needs to better help understand specific state agendas and complement/respond to those agendas.  
  • Manages the strategic focus of the customer as well as the long-term needs of the industry long-term needs as well as the SBU’s role in fulfilling those needs and maintaining and expanding Magellan products and services.

  • Creates management processes and leads discussions with SBU executive leadership team related to key initiatives and deliverables. *Documents end to end business processes and workflows; makes informed recommendations on process, operating and system improvements.
  • Participates in the advisement of new product implementations as necessary to support the business teams. 
  • Creates, monitors and tracks management analysis that explains how the business is operating. 
  • Collaborates with the management team to develop and implement plans for the operational infrastructure of systems, processes, and staff designed to accommodate the rapid growth objectives of our organization, provide high quality and efficient care, and meet customer needs.
  • Participates in earnings calls, board presentations, establishes calendar of events for the year in line with strategic goals and objectives. 
  • Ensures regular corporate deliverables are tracked, adhered to, and submitted on time and with accuracy. 
  • Collects, organizes, analyzes and interprets financial and operational metrics and develops recommendations to improve the operational performance of the business. 
  • Demonstrates knowledge of SBU products and how multiple products are interdependent within contract deliverables and clinical outcomes. Understands full portfolio of Magellan-wide offerings and how those offerings can meet customer needs. 
  • Serves as a key resource to the broader organization.

Responsibilities

Bachelor's degree in business or related field required, MBA preferred.

Minimum 8-10 years operational experience within Medicaid or Medicare managed care, or comparable programs.

Ability to operate in a highly matrixed environment with a wide variety of corporate resources. 

Must be able to build strong relationships cross functionally and both up and down the organization.

Knowledgeable about all clinical and non-clinical health plan operational functions, processes, success metrics and reporting, as well as regulatory and compliance standards associated with government programs. 

Strong executive presence and communication skills, including presentation preparation and delivery is imperative. 

Must have demonstrated analytical skills and financial acumen.
