Job Description

The Senior Accountant reports to the Accounting Manager and is responsible for providing diverse accounting support in a government contracting environment as well as ERP system administration duties. Providing these services in an effective and efficient manner will ensure that the company’s accounting records are current and accurate and that business is able to exploit the robust capabilities of the newly implemented Deltek Costpoint system.

This individual must be ethical, responsible, and trustworthy, and able to pass a background/credit check and a drug screen test
  • Prepare balance sheet account reconciliations
  • Help ensure financial and accounting regulatory compliance - GAAP, SOX, DCAA and others Participate in monthly closing process to include financial statement review and preparation
  • Prepare account trend variance analysis and document results
  • Prepare journal entries from basic accruals to complex adjustments and re-classifications
  • Provide internal and external financial statement audit support
  • Drive accurate project setup to leverage ERP project reporting capabilities
  • Promote strong end user ERP data reporting comprehension
  • Develop and maintain cost pool allocations and reporting
  • Key role in indirect rate development, maintenance and reporting
  • Maintain Deltek configuration and maintenance
  • Provide Cognos report writing maintenance
  • Prepare month-end consolidations entries.
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Ability to work in a fast paced office with minimal direction
  • Ability to maintain a high level of accuracy in preparing and entering financial data
  • Ability to integrate effectively into a dynamic team environment

Other Job Requirements


  • • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or related discipline from a 4 year institution

    • Minimum of 5 years of accounting experience

    • Full cycle G/L experience

    • Strong government contracting experience

    • Strong ERP configuration and maintenance experience

    • Strong Excel skills

    • Ability to maintain confidentiality concerning financial and employee files

    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

    • Effective verbal, listening, and communications skills

    • Effective organizational and time management skills

  • Preferred:

    • CPA or other post-graduate accounting certification

    • Working knowledge of FAR and CAS principles

    • Proficiency in Deltek Costpoint
